Toddling @ Candylicious

Willy Wonka may not have had a hand designing this place but he certainly would have been proud at the outcome.
Candylicious at 1 Utama.
Boisterously decorated, it sports some fancy setup with splendid amount of sweets and chocolates to choose from, all of which imported.
Eat Happy! Yeah ... what about tooth decay or massive long run issues like diabetes.
I had to get something and not just window shop when you see such a message plastered on the wall. An overwhelming sense of guilt came over me so I got myself a small toy with little tablet like sweets in them.
Kids started hopping and dancing in joy as they pass by. The tag 'imported' can set you back a hefty amount for grammes worth of bites. Cautious spending required.

Toddling @ Pavilion, KL

The competition for the best decorated shopping complex for Chinese New Year must have been clinched by Pavilion KL for their deco was spell binding.
The array of pink blossom trees with lovely Chinese lantern's hung on it ... breath taking!
The highlight was this magnificent Dragon chasing a fireball. The humongous piece measured a whopping 600 ft or 182.88 m long!
Royal Selangor featured their own take on dragons ... not 1 but 9 golden dragons at their flagship store at Pavilion. Read about them here.
Lovely artwork showcased at the center foyer all part of Pavilion's Majestic Dragon Festival.
Master artist seen busy at work ...
And a Mongolian princess spotted nearby!

Toddling @ Melaka ... Again!

Roughly a year after the Kepong Baru Community center day trip to the historical city (Melaka 2011), I made a follow-up trip this Chinese New Year with my uncle's family.
The plan started on well executed departure & good travel time within the reduced precautionary speed limit promising a fun frolic day but the events unfolded very differently.
We revisited the same attractions and places of interest yet again and I for one made some startling new discoveries at the Bee Museum.
Upon closer inspection at the layout of the Malaysian map, it seems to be made out of bees!
The cruise down Melaka river was as interesting as it was the last round with a seemingly gloomy weather which made it a pleasantly cool ride.
With the recent furor questioning the very existence of the local folk lore heroes makes us wonder if a name change for this bridge is inevitable. This was pretty much all that we enjoyed as the weather after lunch ended all outdoor activity and not to mention the influx of KLites making it near impossible to find a decent parking spot.
With a sour face leading back to KL, an exciting discovery was made. The photo above is courtesy of the Melaka Toy Museum Blog (http://melakatoymuseum.blogspot.com/). I didn't get a chance to go in but the Hulk sure made it a must visit the next time around.

Happy Chinese New Year!

The rabbit bows out for the mighty Water Dragon this year. The celebrations started well ahead with the Lion Dance troupe making the their visits and loud sounds of fire crackers despite the ban imposed by the government.
The outlook is said to be equal on both gains and challenges nevertheless the 15-day long festivity starts tomorrow leading to the Lantern Festival.
The highlights are of course the tradition of giving out Ang Pows (Red Packet) which is a monetary gift. Being one of the few Indian families in the middle of a large Chinese community, I receive a handful every year. Looking forward to a good holiday.

Bieber Fever!

A beautiful head of hair and a sexy look will instantly electrify and attract teen girls. I may not fall into that age category yet but it's no harm in starting early. Am I a 'Belieber'? ... not to that extend yet but I certainly did catch the fever recently.
Here's Justin from the Ellen show proudly displaying his fashion statement which includes a long scarf hanging from his back pocket.
Here's Johnny Depp from the Letterman show with what seems like a rug hanging on the right side of his jeans. He once said, 'I may have a feather duster down my pants'. No idea what that meant but the cloth could come in handy cleaning after his kids leave the table.
And how are the 2 heartthrob's linked to me? Well I got my hanky dangling from my jeans too. Cool looking or not, it serves me the purpose if I end up with running nose.
Ain't that look something ...

Shopping Mall Play Area

It's a norm for me to visit the play area in shopping malls. For obvious reasons daddy prefers that to keep me from bugging him while he gets the weekly / monthly supplies.
The malls figured out the potential business they can make from these play areas for which recently decided to revamp it and imposing a nominal charge for a period of time. This huge rotating teddy was added part of the makeover at the Kepong Carrefour.
Metro Prima (Jusco) Kepong took it to another level. Theirs is much bigger, modern play stuff but charges a heavy amount increasing every 5 minutes.
No complaints from me for I'm elated at the play time minus the grumbles I have to put up with when daddy pays for them or me asking an added time extension.

Happy Thai Pongal!

The saying "Thai Pirandhal Vazhi Pirakkum" meaning "the commencement of Thai paves the way for new opportunities" is often quoted regarding the Pongal festival. The harvest festival is celebrated thanking the Sun God for a good harvest.
It is gaining so much mileage it has superseded Deepavali in popularity. It falls in the Thai month of the tamil calendar which is in January making many regard this the new Tamil New Year for it's also commonly seen that way in India in recent times.
The celebration is mild this year with quality home time munching on goodies and of course a pot full of Pongal with loads of shows on Sun TV.
We decided on an In house Pongal yet again for the idea of simplicity weighted greater in comparison which definitely wielded the same 'spill over'.
For obvious reasons, the simplicity was a step further with available instant options.

Bhogi Pandigai

The day preceding Pongal is called Bhogi when people discard old things and focus on new belongings. Typically folks light a bonfire to discard old stuff. Maybe at one point in time that might have made sense but why waste perfectly good, reusable items. Recycle or charity.
I made a massive cleanup of my old belongings filling all these bags with stuff from the cupboard. That's alot of used clothes that we've prepared to donate to the unfortunate. I even made daddy get rid of his out of fashion clothes. Time to give him a makeover.
The house was cleaned up with a little touch up for the festive look. It's the celebration of harvest tomorrow and I'm off to the sundry shop for some supplies and sugar cane!

2011 Holiday Activity

2011 school holidays was a blast! It wasn't all about chilling out cause I got myself busy with some art and craft which by the way ... turned out pretty good.
I gave away the completed 'mermaid pins' as Christmas presents despite the lovely pieces needing some improvements on the painting front. It's was presentable in it's own way.
The butterfly colouring kit got a little out of hand. I had shiny glitters splattered all over my work desk and made daddy's already shiny head ... shinier!
The alphabet jewellery was my favourite. Easy mix and match.

Back to School

This morning was Day 1 of 5 Year old kindergarten. It's orientation week for the next 3 days and we're gonna be doing some refreshers from 4 year old lessons. The other cool thing is we actually started in a brand new building altogether.
What happened to the old one? Well the developers decided to move us out for safety reasons when cracks were discovered in our school wall. Well the picture is just an exaggerated imagination of mine.
The new place is couple of blocks away and will house us for the next 6 month or so. They took the liberty of doing up the house to suite our fun learning environment.
Some of the play items were moved here along with us but the location of this house makes it extremely hot for we cross path with the afternoon sun directly.
I'm game for anything since my gang are all back joining me at 5 year old, Lavysha Nair, Soo Hao Yee, Chew Bin En and Tan Kah Yong. Class K1 is gonna rock this year!

Happy New Year 2012!

Last night the countdown was on top of the Kepong Baru flyover! Odd choice but we had the best view any New Year Eve reveller would dream off. I could see the fireworks within a radius of 20km! happening at KLCC, Desa Park City, The Curve and many other places.
Drove down to a nearby restaurant for some strong Milo right after. If you notice the weird angle of the photo, well it was intentional for I will see the world from a new point of view which is one of my resolutions this year.
I've exceeded all expectations and completed my targets last year (Happy New Year 2011). I'm pretty happy for 2011 has been good as I enjoyed my 1st year in kindergarten, Singapore trip and many other fun stuff throughout. I'm setting the bar higher and reaching for the stars this year. With all the support a 5 year old can get, I'm bound to top it yet again.

Happy 2012!
