New Hair Cut for 2014

Getting a new hair cut wasn't on my list of to do's but daddy convinced me other wise. I spend an extra 10 minutes to get my hair done which I could do away with for additional snooze time when the new school term kicks in. ;-)
Back to my regular hair studio, G&C.
With my locks 9 inch shorter, I was looking rather ravishing.
The camera shy daddy, looked kinda weird using my hair as his toupee. The middle parting straight hair really didn't suit his facial features.

Toddling @ Batu Gajah, RT Trip 2013

A couple of months back, the community center - Rukun Tetangga organized yet another trip to the state of perak. This time around it was another town.
We started the trip in Kampar where the famous Chicken biscuit is produced. They are also famed for other delicacies that gets sold off pretty fast in the day.
We had an early lunch right after and then off we went to Batu Gajah to visit the last known Tin Dredge in Malaysia located in Tanjung Tualang.
It was not in working condition but they did clean it up good and made it safe for visitors to walk in and view it in all its splendour!
These cup like things, which is at my size, are the ones used on a rotating chain to dig up the tin. I can't imagine how heavy these were and how did they carry it around.
We got on the bus and headed north to Chemor visiting the Seen Hock Yeen Chinese Temple. Some members of the group went on a tour but I decided to stayed back as it was a very hot day. Got myself an ice-cream to cool off.
On our way back, we stopped by the Gunung Lang recreation park. The main attraction here is the man-made cascading waterfall atop a limestone hill.
I had to get on the playground and sweat myself out!
We also visited the Tambun Pomelo farm to buy some fresh fruit picked right from the trees. Most of the tour members bought this the most.
A very tiring trip but enjoyable at the same time. Loads of items purchased for giveaway to uncles and aunties.

Toddling @ Gopeng, RT Trip 2012

This is a much delayed post for it was a day trip organized by my neighbourhood community center - Rukun Tetangga way back in 2012!
Since the trip took place sometime around Mother's Day last year, our local Parliament representative drop by to see us off and handed flowers to all the ladies!
The key item on the agenda was to visit the Gaharu Tea Valley. Also known as argawood, the tree is infected with mold to produce a dark aromatic resin in response to the attack, which results in a very dense, dark, resin embedded heartwood. The resin embedded wood is commonly called gaharu and is valued for its distinctive fragrance used for incense and perfumes.
Looking closer at the trees, you would find lots of tiny holes where the molds are injected through. Here's a breathtaking view of the valley.
The remains of a 20 year old gaharu tree trunk is found at one of the high peaks and it is said that hugging it would bring good luck! No harm in trying ... :-p
After the outdoor tour, we were introduced to some gaharu products which can be bought at a reasonable rate with the exception of the tea which was pretty pricey.
Gaharu Saplings were also available for purchase.
Next stop was the Gopeng Heritage house. This museum is build within a shoplot to mimic a house ready with 3 bedrooms, kitchen, living and dining hall.
They were all furnished with a huge collection of antiques.
After lunch we drove down to Teluk Intan for some shopping and visit our very own leaning tower! The tower is slanted leftward, similar to the Tower of Pisa in the center of a square surrounded by Jalan Pasar, Jalan Selat, Jalan Bandar & Jalan Ah Cheong.
More shopping ensued!
At about 5pm, we reached the Ping Sien Si Chinese Temple. It has some magnificent statues of various Chinese deities and legendary characters. We stayed on and had our dinner in one of the shops nearby before heading back home.
A caricature of Jackie Chan was seen pointing the way to the gents wash room.

Toddling @ The Neem, Melaka

My favourite destination has always been Melaka due to the new adventures it presents and the reasonably close distance from KL. My recent trip last week brought memories of this holiday I had in June which was pretty cool in it's own way.
Like all holidays, I took Minnie along for the June trip.
My first stop then was the Butterfly and reptile park which was located just after the Ayer Keroh toll. The butterflies were cute but I can't say the same for the reptiles.
I got a chance to release a basket full of butterflies and it was pretty ticklish when they burst out flying in all direction and hitting you right in the face!
The Koi pond was another beautiful attraction for they can smell you approaching with a bag of fish food. The guys literally jump up trying to get a bite.
Didn't miss my customary Melaka river cruise.
My stay back in June was in this hidden gem called 'The Neem'. Finding it was a challenge as anyone not familiar with the streets of Melaka would miss the turning.
They have a pool and this cool trampoline. I was hooked on it and after all the bouncing play, hitting the pool just made it so much fun.
It was such a pleasure staying here moreover with great hosts and no doubt it's always booked and we certainly were lucky to get a room. We stayed in the 'Ketapang' which also happens to be the biggest room they offered with 2 queen sized beds.
We also made stops at Jonker Street for shopping.
We also took a drive to Kampung Chetti where the Chitty community resides in Melaka. They are a distinctive group of Tamil people found both here in Melaka and in Singapore, who are also known as the Indian Peranakans.
What impressive me the most was the importance they give to education. This was a free standing unit dedicated to their very own library.
When in Melaka, don't miss the trishaw!
All in ... it was a very relaxing holiday!

Merry Christmas!

Season's Greetings to all and May it bring Peace and joy to all!
I had my own little tree at home.
With presents that were bigger than the tree!
Spent the morning opening all of them and loving all of it!

Toddling @ Ayer Keroh Resort, Melaka

Last 2 weeks before getting into Primary school, we made a short 1 night trip to one of my favourite destination ... Melaka! Smurfette came along too.
My regular stop over for breakfast is at the Ayer Keroh rest area. There's always some play time added in. We made an early trip to avoid the traffic.
Despite being early, we still had to endure a long que at the Melaka Wonderland Theme Park and Resort. I was there for the water park!
The place was packed as it was a Sunday and it's a popular weekend getaway for folks from Melaka and Negeri Sembilan. Adding to the crowd were folks from KL like me.
After a series fun filled water slide play with daddy making his famous reverse slide down, we were tired to our core and immediately headed out for lunch.

The afternoon was pretty much spent lazing around in the room followed by dinner and shopping at a knocked down Parkson sale at night.
The next morning, right after breakfast, we went souvinear hunting and bought some Melaka delicacies from stalls setup just outside the Mini Malaysia.
Uncles family came along with us on this holiday and we had a blast spending time together on all the escapades.
The highlight of this holiday in Melaka was a chance to get a ride in an actual bullock cart. The authentic piece of equipment was in mint condition.
Well taken care off thanks to febreze! If that's what it holds.
