Deepavali - The next day ... Kaththi

After all the massive partying the day before, yesterday I spent, literally, the whole morning packing and distributing Deepavali delicacies to all our neighbours.
In the afternoon, I made it to the 2pm show of the much anticipated, Kaththi!

Behindwoods.com : Kaththi is a grand production which rides on Vijay's dual roles, the social interest angle & impactful scenes which are part of the mix. Murugadoss delivers a strong commercial movie with a nice social angle, in true Vijay style!
The movie was simply awesome! Some scenes left me in tears which really showcased Vijay the actor who was really at ease getting into emotional scenes.

Happy Deepavali!

Happy Deepavali Everyone!

The day started with prayers at home receiving blessings from the elders and then followed by prayers in the temple. We were at the Kaliamman temple, Kepong.

Visitors came by 11 in the morning and after that I was at my Uncle's place for lunch and after a sumptuous meal, another round out in the restaurant around 3pm.

By the time we returned home there were guests being entertained by Grandma and Grandpa and after freshening up, we left to Aunt's place for dinner and fireworks. We made so much noise, the quiet neighbourhood woke in shock!

Deepavali - 1 Day to Go! - Second Half Report

The remaining half, I arranged the few greeting cards that we received (3 of them came from the ruling party) and my personal favourite of Ilayathalapathy.
Made some last minute purchases, mainly snacks.
Aunty 'Skyfall' Caroline made some fantastic cakes for us. Daddy picked up the order and as soon as he reached home, I got a bite out of the chocolate cake. Bliss!
Fireworks continued at night but this time at aunt's place.
Baby Sailesh didn't quite enjoy the loud blast but took an instant liking to the twinkle light we put up for him. I can tell when I see that little smile of his.
Hitting the bed for a bright celebration tomorrow.

Deepavali - 1 Day to Go! - First Half Report

I was tasked to put on the new chair back laces and lovely silk arm rest.
New sheets for the bed. I insisted on this design.
Does look a little too pink doesn't it?
Sindhu is ready too ...

Deepavali - 2 Days to Go!

2 Days to Deepavali and I'm hoping I'll get the best gift ever of going to Mars! Yes you heard me right, the planet Mars. Here's my boarding pass.
Yeah I wish ... NASA is launching it's Orion spacecraft on December 4th and submitted names will be etched on a micro-chip that's going out of this world.

To submit your name to be on Orion's flight test, visit: go.usa.gov/vcpz

Today in school we all bid festive wishes to each other and off we were to 'Seek The Light' in our own ways and will be back to school next Monday - 27th.

Deepavali - 3 Days to Go!

Since it was a Sunday with everyone at home, we worked on the garden. It was looking good in it's current state but needed weeding at some areas.
Time well spent bagging 3 large ones!
Washed up and immediately headed out to Semua House for some Deepavali sight seeing but ended up returning with a boot load of stuff.
Assisted Grandma with the 'Payatham Urundai', a spicy delicacy.

Checked in - fireworks! All safe under strict adult supervision.
Abhishek Krishnan from Behindwoods.com says this;

"The teaser followed by two back to back song promos have placed the exuberance level of the fans on a hyperventilating rocket. The trailer, has enough elements to produce that goosebump-ish moment for any ardent fan of Vijay. Ilayathalapathy appears to have retained the decibel raising “cracking-neck-muscles-with-fist-on-cheek” mannerism that he had in Thuppakki.
Ilayathalapathy promises Tamil Cinema a cracker of a Diwali."

Deepavali - 4 Days to Go!

There was a kolum competition in daddy's office and he was invited as one of the judges. Back in his younger days, the man did some pretty cool ones himself.
Since everyone got busy cleaning, I made it a point to contribute by atleast sorting out my own stuff. Did a massive cleaning of all my toys and lined up some for donation.
As always, here's the look at all my Deepavali attires this year.
Custom made 'Pavadai', jeans with T-Shirt/cardigan and a home wear set.
2 sets of dresses, 2 shirt sets with the pink one doubling up as a workout piece.
And some round neck T's.
Another magic happened overnight, song promo of "Selfie Pulla", rendered by Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Sunidhi Chauhan was launched. The fever rages on!

Deepavali - 5 Days to Go!

Today Grandma completed a traditional Indian sweet - Rava Laddhu!
Though most of them were bought off the shelf but some of them were made at home. In particular, Murukku, which is a must have for Deepavali.
Rest of the evening, I spent it at Aunt's place rib tickling Sailesh and taking him thru the colours. He gives his little smirk that instantly melts us away!
Nothing prepared me for this surprise!
Promo of the Anirudh - Vishal Dadlani rendition, 'Aathi Ena Nee' from the upcoming blockbuster - Kaththi! It cuts off before the song takes a massive turn in tempo. Another 5 days to experience the full cinematic magic!

Deepavali - 6 Days to Go!

Decorations are always a plus as it brings out the feeling of festivity and creates that ambiance when you get relatives and friends visiting.
We're not pressing too much on deco as it's been hectic all around. The little one has kept us on our toes and I have school till next Monday. Managing in between.
We're already talking about year end party and I will be handing out Deepavali cards to my teachers today. Lovely designs picked by Grandpa.
The curtains are up and that black patch there is daddy shirtless.
We also received a pleasant surprise ... from the Prime Minister and the ruling party secretary general. It was a nice gesture of them to send greeting cards.

Deepavali - 7 Days to Go!

2014 is a splendid year for me. This year, instead of my annual 'Rocker Valli' celebration, I'm going with 'Double Dhamakka' for my little brother!
The both of us are certainly going to take the celebrations to greater heights. He loves the colours from the twinkle lights and it's been shining bright the past few days.
My final assessment just concluded and with that off my mind, I'm gearing up for the festivity coming up next week. Lessons will go on as usual and I'm getting an additional day off from school on the eve of Deepavali.
Busy as a bee but good time management will certainly help me work things out and help where I can at home. I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Classmate's Birthday @ The Club, Bandar Utama #2

2nd birthday party within a month to be celebrated at The Club. Ryan who is an avid soccer fan hosted a soccer party. The beautiful game that's close to my heart!
As soon as I got there, some of my friends were already warming up. Ryan took the liberty in arranging for his coach to conduct the clinic for us.
After all the training and strategic game play, we had got into a 4 aside game. I tried all the positions and manage to score a few from the penalty spot.
But the joy of being able to guard the post was the best. Being the goal keeper was cool and I kinda enjoyed it. Not bad for a first timer.
After an hour of play time, we did the cake cutting and enjoyed rich chocolate cake. My friends certainly knows how to throw a party.

Toddling @ Time International School

Last Saturday, the Time International School held an open day for the general public for a late enrollment into their IGCSE program.
It was really close to my place and we drove into this industrial area in Segambut where 3 small factory lots were turned into the school.
We were given a short briefing by one of the teachers and then taken on a tour of the school facilities, classroom, science and computer labs.
The futsal court was particularly tempting and there is plan to expand with more facilities and obviously the price is apt to what is being offered.
Their uniform was pretty simple compared to the elegance we bring with Beaconhouse's professional looking uniform. Both has it's good and bad points.

Deepavali Feista - Jalan Ipoh

The Jalan Ipoh stretch fronting the Sri Thandayuthapani Temple has been a popular spot for us when it comes to meeting the Indian need. What I meant was the typical household, cooking and clothing needs that's more inclined to us culturally.
The short walkway along the street has a good collection of establishments and they put up their own mini Deepavali bazaar every year. Grandeur in setup.
We bought some delicacies and raw materials so that grandma can prepare extras for the upcoming celebration. I found a little stall offering fireworks .. ahem!
A handful of shopping completed here and we're good to go ... for now.

New Eats - 2nd Trip to Juro

The last time I was at Juro, tried the pork and the succulent meat left a great taste and since daddy had an unused voucher, we made our way there last Sunday.
This time I had the Grilled Norwegian Salmon Steak glazed with Teriyaki sauce.
Tried the German Bratwurst and pepper sausage served with 2 types of savoury sauces with fries, coleslaw and salad as sides. Both hearty dishes consumed with pleasure.
Finished it off with Cup cake and vanilla ice-cream.
