Time for School?

We were hanging out around Bangsar last weekend. It was a trip made purely to burn time. We stopped at Bangsar Shopping Center and then headed down to Bangsar Village.

We didn't really shop for anything specific, just bought all that we window shopped. I had a funny feeling about this trip cause daddy was busy stopping by all the early child development centers.

They had quite a few at these 2 places and it turned out, he was checking out a place to have me enrolled!

He must have narrowed down to Gymboree cause that's where he spent the most time. It turns out the place offers creative learning, music, art and kiddy sports.

I was quite impressed at it and it wasn't going to be too taxing either since the classes are for an hour a week covering a year long curriculum. Daddy didn't sign up immediately but he did mention we might return for a trial class.

Well the kids looked like they were having lots of fun, I would just have to find out myself.

Night Market

Last Sunday marked another first for me. 2 years in Kepong and this was my first trip to the Weekly Night Market. The irony is I've been to neighbouring markets but not the one in my own back yard!

Getting there was half the fun as we had to walk through alleys. It can get scary at night but why fear when daddy's here!

It was close to 7pm but the place was already bustling with people. The Kepong Night Market is famed for it's wide selection of food predominantly chinese. The family's been here for almost 35 years, so I guess I better start getting use to this.

Food stalls, gift items, clothings and lots of tit-bits on sale. I got myself a toy while I was there. Neither did it cost much nor lived long enough. The windup toy failed by the time I got home.

It wasn't the festive season but people shopped like it was. It will always be crowded every week despite the economic slowdown.

My 2nd Birthday!

Monday, 13th July: I'm 2 years old now and I've been blogging for a year. Major milestone and double the celebration. The day started bright with prayers in the temple. Being a devote Hindu, I wanted to thank the lord for a blessed year ahead with good health and wealth.

My prayers were certainly answered as I've been getting cash and gold as presents this year. Overwhelming but I'll save it to adorn for important occasions only.

Daddy brought us to the Kechara Oasis for dinner in the evening. It's located in Petaling Jaya and the unique thing about this establishment is that it serves vegetarian dishes inspired by the Tibetian way of healthy eating.

The exotic cuisine was fantasic. I was old enough for solids so I took small bites here and there. Grandma had my regular dinner brought along just in case I found these too spicy.

Too Spicy? I'm Indian, spicy food is just the thing for me Grandma...

What really pleased me about this place is, they got me a plate, bowl, fork and spoon that came with a little cup ... all child friendly. I've dined at many places but this is the only place that really takes into consideration of their 'little' customers.

My Achievements!

Greetings Everyone! Firstly my apologies for not being able to write for such a long time. Daddy's got a new Job and although he works from home more these days, I've been keeping him busy with my tantrums and whinings.

What better way to make a comeback for the fact that I'm about to celebrate my 2nd Birthday the day after tomorrow! And to mark the special occasion, I've compiled a list of Firsts that has kept me preoccupied for the last 3 months. Here they are in no particular order ...

My first foreign visit. It was to Australia. Daddy was on a business trip so we all tagged along and flew to Melbourne and Sydney and dropped by Brisbane on our way back. It was a week long trip that was full of excitement.

My first flight experience was on the Malaysian Airlines Non-Stop 8 hours to Melbourne. The return flight was even longer as we had to stopover at Brisbane.

My first River cruise was along the Yarra River in Melbourne. It was a scenic journey and with a weather as good as it was in Melbourne, I really had a blast.

My first encounter with Penguins. We spent half a day in the Melbourne Aquarium and although they had all the exotic fish and other sea life, it was these little guys that melted my heart.

My first walk under a bridge. What makes this walk unique is that it was non other than the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The view of the Opera House from where I was standing was simply breath taking.

My first experience on a train. It was not any train, but a double decker. We caught one to visit my grand aunt while we were in Sydney.

My first view of a Kangaroo. We visited the Sydney Taronga Zoo and they were the main attraction. I've only seen them on TV and picture cards, but to actually look at them in flesh was very exciting.

Other facinating experiences that we had in Australia was The Rialto Tower, Tram & horse rides in Melbourne. The Opera House, The Rock and staying at the fancy Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney. The food and shopping was the icing to the cake.

My first Banana Leaf Meal. It was at an Indian Restaurant in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur. I settled for thosai although I would have really enjoyed a full fledge meal like everyone else.

Mt first graffiti. All I needed was a pen and a good start was body art. I'm still at the beginner level and recently moved on to a larger canvas ... The wall.

My first cinema experience. It was at the new GSC cineplex in Tropicana City Mall. We went for the Indian movie 'Ayan'.

It was an interesting experience to watch a movie on the big screen but to last for almost 3 hours in the same seat ... not really an easy task at this age. Lucky me for it was a matinee show so most of the seats were empty.

My first experience with Little Buddhas. This was during the last Wesak Day celebration. They had 3 kids, much older than me, dressed up like Buddha and seated for devotees to greet and take photos with. What really caught my attention was the headgear.
