Day Trip to Melaka
Melaka has been a favourite holiday destination for us since it's closer to KL and there's so much to experience in the historic town. Last weekend was a first for us ... a day trip. The neighbourhood community center organized this trip to foster good ties among the residents. It might have worked with the adults but it was lacking 'youngsters' for me to click with.
The trip took off with a 'sting' at the World Bee Museum.
Thank God it was the dead put on display. Wasn't my cup of tea but I did enjoy a cup of honey... ;-)
A hit among kids and this was the only section of the exhibit that had people crowding all around.
Next was the famous Melaka River cruise. It was such an enjoyable journey it reminded me of my cruise down the Yarra river in Melbourne, Australia. They do look quite the same if it wasn't for the coconut tree seen on the right giving away Melaka river's identity.
The banks were well decorated and wonderful setups were put in place for tourists and locals to enjoy both the view and get a good look at what else is being offered here.
After lunch, we made our way to the Taming Sari Tower. All the building had was souvenir's on sale but the star was the white pole on the right. For 20 ringgit per person, you get quite an experience.
What experience? ... it's a must for everyone going to Melaka. (http://www.menaratamingsari.com)

Next stop was the famous Portuguese Settlement. The beautiful view and fantastic sea breeze was awesome.
An hour before leaving to KL, we were dropped of at the Jonker Walk for some good old fashion market style shopping. Got loads of goodies and a toy or 2 for me ... Tiring trip but super enjoyment. Wednesday, March 23, 2011
Vegan Dog Food?
I've been preoccupied daily after school spending quality time with Sindhu. It's not all play as I too have responsibility like getting the shampoo and towel ready for her bath, making sure there's sufficient food and top of my daily task list ... giving her a good amount of belly rubs!
Daddy's been reading on immunizations on the net and this came by in one of the sites selling dog supplies.
I know it's a healthy option but my conscience doesn't allow me to feed her this. Even PETA stresses on the presences of hormones and pesticides in commercial meat products that may be harmful in the long run. But a vegetarian dog ... tough life. If you insist on vegan diet for your pet ... http://www.veggiepets.com/
Sindhu's happy with her favourite.

Reading Session at Borders
Popular Singaporean children's author Ho Lee-Ling was in town for a special reading session that took place in KL. I was fortunate the catch the author of popular kids books 'Samsui Girl' and 'Gasing Boy' at Borders, Bangsar Village 2 last Sunday.
She was very expressive and gave life to the 'Gasing Boy' in her storytelling. We were all thrilled to hear her rendition and loved every bit of it.
We received mini tops as souvenirs. A former recipient of the Asian Festival of Children’s Content award, Ms. Ho surely knows how to win a child over.
We had an opportunity to work on some arts and crafts activity. Pictures of the characters from the book were given to be coloured and taken home with as part of the book promotion.
