Holiday in Putrajaya?

The recently concluded week long school holiday was going to be a home affair with piles of homework but a quick plan was put in place for an unexpected 3 days 2 nights at a location that might seem odd. Minnie tagged along too on her first holiday trip.

Where was this odd place? Putrajaya. Now why do I call this odd ... well that's because you don't go for a holiday stay in a hotel 45 mins from your home!

The idea of spending couple days away at a location that's a stone throw away from home may bemuse some for there are people who drive daily farther getting to work in Putrajaya.

Daddy had to work those couple of days leading to the move into his temporary office location so Putrajaya seemed a more logical breakaway as he had to be in Cyberjaya to get to office and also making sure his princess got a break from school too. 2 birds with a stone.

The idea of just lazing around, watching TV & simply doing nothing (not that I have chores at home) is good to rejuvenate a stressed out school going child. I kinda miss my hammock so I make sure a sarong is around to give me that feeler from time to time.

So what do you do in Putrajaya? Well to be honest I've never explored the place like what I did in those 3 days. Labeled the administrative capital of our government, it's not just office blocks but actually a world of it's own unlike any other towns in Malaysia.

On a weekday evening, you practically have the whole lake to yourself. Very quiet and a good chance to really enjoy the beauty around.

Sultan of Selangor's weekend palace. Despite the distance from the paddle boat, the parabolic satellite dish was clearly visible. Isn't it illegal to possess or set-up your own here?

The prime minister's office, PICC, the mosque were just a few architectural marvels of Putrajaya. Everything about this place was so unique and stands out in it's own way.

Meals were mainly at Cyberjaya area since we drove there to pick daddy and aunt from office. A bit pricey but good food catering the international community there.

The timing of my trip couldn't have been better for the hot air balloon festival was on at presinct 2 with much fanfare. Getting a ride was still near impossible. (Tried 2 years back)

People were queuing up 3 hours before the actual rides opened. With limited tickets sold each day for the 4 balloons, there was very very slim chance yet again.

Treated myself to some nice toys and spent some time checking out the stalls and indulged in crispy bites along the way.

Spent one evening honing my swimming skills. I went a step further without any supervised presence in the waddle pool but close eyes were still zooming on me every second. :-)

Overall it served everyone well; work, play and total relaxation. For me, I enjoyed every minute of it and as usual didn't want to leave for home.

Daddy's New Office

Daddy took this photo from his old workstation where as you can see major works are being done at the new building he will eventually be moving into.

These were taken from the 4th floor and the piling works have begun for a massive 2 blocks with 10 floors each! They will take a good 2 years to complete and in the mean time ...

This is 2nd home to him!

Backwaters of Kerala

Exactly 1 month ago, grandma went on a 'break free' trip with aunt to Kerala, India. It wasn't breaking free from cooking or housework but from my mischievousness ;-)

They spent a night in this cool houseboat. An experience I certainly look forward to sometime in the future as visiting Gods own country is a must on any avid traveler's wish list.

The tour included some magnificent hotels at very affordable rates. How would I know? to me anything is affordable as long as it comes out of daddy's pocket.

Here's grandma in one of the rooms they were staying in. With daily visit at different location, they were literally backpacking, something that she doesn't enjoy very much.

Baby Ken's Full Moon Lunch

A month ago, I mentioned about Daddy's friend welcoming a bouncing baby boy and yesterday both daddy and I were invited to the full month lunch celebrating his arrival.

The close family and friends party was held by the pool which helped balance the scorching afternoon heat. Nice ambiance with excellent food, spiced up the function.

It took place at the baby's place in Zenia, Desa Park City. This was my first time attending a full moon celebration and stepping into this housing area within DPC.

Nicely structured array of houses which crosses the million ringgit mark a piece left daddy walking about in jaw dropping awe.

Little Baby Ken got a small gift from us, hope he enjoys the little dolls.
