Toddling @ Mid-Valley with the Pirates!

Last Sunday, right after Sindhu's socializing event at Bandar Utama, we skipped cooking and headed out for an early lunch. Initially planned for some light walk in a close by mall to digest the meal took us all the way to Mid Valley Megamall.

In conjunction with the release of the 4th installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, the mall held a grand promo event with a life size pirate ship put up at the Center Court.

No one was allowed near it but the crowd swarmed it trying to take a closer look and snap a photo or 2.

I was glued to the treasure chest!

Doggy Day Out!

The Malaysian National Animal Welfare Foundation (MNAWF) held the graduation ceremony and placement for new class 8am yesterday morning at the Central Park, Bandar Utama.

It also served as a meet and greet session for dog owners and like minded individuals. Folks from Science Diet and vets were seen actively mingling and giving tips on grooming and pet care.

We didn't signed up for any of the classes since it's a whole 10 week commitment and the registration team feels it would be good that the same handler stays on throughout the duration.

Sindhu certainly needs obedience lessons cause we were the only ones seen jumping and running about aimlessly in the park as this was her first doggy meet and greet experience.

A number of our furry friends must come from well of background since they were seen alighting from fancy cars. Not sure if the BMWs & Mercedes had fur dropping problem cause daddy had a field day cleaning up after.

Sindhu was so pre-occupied she didn't have time for her regular snacks that normally gets gobbled up in seconds. My 2nd day of the Mid Year break has been an energy-depleting fun filled outing.

Despite being day 1 of the Mid Year break, daddy woke me up early yesterday citing the need to go Que up. Didn't quite knew what was in store till I actually got there and was I in for a surprise!

 

'ParenThots', a popular parenting column in the local daily The Star were the brains behind this massive effort. Held at Tropicana City Mall, the event was a crafty 3 hours starting at 11am presenting some popular art and craft talents showcasing their handy work.

Made sense being there early cause the crowd build-up began an hour earlier. We were lucky to be the 1st five in line and being a free event handing out goodie bag for the kids and promising a blast with your loved ones ... Isn't that enticing enough?

There were a selection of 4 different art and craft counters for the kids to try out. Some needed an hour of work while some depended on how fast you were with them. The crowd continued forming so it wasn't fair to stay on too long so we decided to try our best finishing them fast enough.

I jumped right in to some simple looking paper art ... at least that's the impression I got at first glance. It wasn't easy and at the same time not too tricky. You needed steady hands and fabulous imagination to put the finished paper products together. Miyyah was the brains behind this counter.

A strong advocate for lateral thinking, my philosophy to art ... 'No Rules'. It's purely my interpretation, advance apologies to artists reading this. Honestly, isn't my work a fine piece?

After the twisting and rolling, I crossed over to kneading and shaping. Clay like made from dough with icing sugar dust to prevent sticky fingers. They were easy to play with fine fragrance. An invitation to anybody walking nearby to come find out what's cooking! Here's more pictures from the event.
It's been a fantastic start to the holidays for I had a swell time!

1st Term Assessment

The Mid Year break is starting on a high note for me. 16 days of pure fun since I made good on my promise to do well in the 1st term assessment.

1Malaysia Unity Week 2011

The 'Rukun Tetangga sector C' ... my neighbourhood community association was invited to join the 1Malaysia Unity Week celebration held at the PPR Desa Tun Razak. Minister in the Prime minister's department Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon graced the event along with other key dignitaries.

A number of association used this opportunity to make some money for their community by setting up stalls selling clothes to food stuff. The PPR playground was buzzing with crowds enjoying the day out.

All the delegates were greeted with these lovely 'Mini Ministers' portraying a minister from our cabinet. Note the smart chap 2nd from left, that's mini Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon. Sadly I failed to locate our PM.

The lively atmosphere got fired up with the kids futsal tournament. They were pupils from the government run kindergarten all geared up in Real Madrid and Chelsea kits. It was good to see the Malaysian colours too.

The motive of the trip was participating in the government funded gathering but fostering strong communal feeling isn't just about hearing minister's talk but to actually spend time doing what we like the most within the community. My sector is all for trips! First stop after a filling lunch ... Sai Kim Factory.

They are the biggest distributor of sea weeds in Malaysia. You can find all sorts of dried / chilled sea food for cooking and medicine. I enjoyed the walk through their chiller which was part of the factory tour.

We weren't big fans of chilled or dried sea food but we did get something in memory of the visit, local pearl earrings for me. Was at a bargain probably because they were at the bottom of the grade in pearl quality.

The final stop before we headed home was something I can relate to but I enjoyed the place so much it didn't hit me to buy any. Who would turn down overflowing free samples. I won't be looking at another for a week.
