IBM turned 100 on June 16th and locally, IBM Malaysia celebrated 50 years on June 21st. I may not have mentioned this before but daddy works for the Big Blue. How do you celebrate such a significant milestone moreover if it's IBM ... hold an open air Rock Concert!
We were ferried down in a cage like tram greeted with face painting, picture with the Anniversary logo and KFC for a hungry man is an angry one. Well organized without needing us to be in a long que.
The broadway like setup with a huge IBM logo smack on stage really got the mood started. Phat Fabes and Rina O kept the audience alive with their antics and funny liners. Even though I was at a reasonable distance, the camera couldn't bring me closer.
The IBM leadership team came full force and was dressed in the best rock outfit mimicking some of the great rock personalities from the last 50 years.
Jaclyn Victor made a special appearance and thrilled the crowd with some of her best songs including the one that clinched her the Malaysian Idol title that propelled her to what she is today. Aspiration for little girls like me.
The highlight of the day was the cake cutting ceremony. My wishes to IBM for yet another history making 100!
Sunway Amphitheater was selected for this massive event last weekend and each IBMer was to bring a partner to join the celebration and yours truly was easily the youngest Rock & Roller that night.
The event was also marked the final showdown of the Battle of the Bands among 4 finalist. The IBMers from the participating team's department thronged the place full force.
