Happy Chinese New Year !

There's always something to celebrate thanks to Malaysia's rich multicultural background. It's the Chinese New Year and 2009 is the year of the Ox.

Kepong predominantly being a Chinese area, always brings the best out of the celebrations. There were stalls put up by the roadsides selling mandarin oranges, peach blossoms and many other new year necessity.

This year we headed down to the Gerakan (A political party in Malaysia) Open house celebration held at their HQ, The PGRM building. We were a little late, so most of the cookies and New Year delicacies were all gone.

Zoom in 3 times and you can see patrons at the celebration were all busy packing! No wonder there was no food for the late comers. The organizers were not very accommodating as they did not furnish enough clean plates and people were grabbing food from all four corners.

I was in my silky black 'Cheongsam' at the celebration. Both me and daddy had our photos taken by the reporters from the Oriental Daily who were there to cover the event.

The fun thing about Chinese New Year is the Lion Dance performance. It's very interesting to watch these trained acrobats performing all these exiting stunts. The drum beat that goes with it really gets our heart pumping.

We had our very own celebration at home. Grandpa got the prtable 'Yee Sang' set so that we can toss and enjoy it in the comfort of our home. It symbolizes increasing prosperity, abundance and vigor when you toss all the ingredients together with chopsticks.

My neighbours presented me with 'ang pows' when i went visiting to their houses.
