The day preceding Pongal is called Bhogi when people discard old
things and focus on new belongings. Typically folks light a bonfire to discard old stuff. Maybe at one point in time that might have made sense but why waste perfectly good, reusable items. Recycle or charity.
I made a massive cleanup of my old belongings filling all these bags with stuff from the cupboard. That's alot of used clothes that we've prepared to donate to the unfortunate. I even made daddy get rid of his out of fashion clothes. Time to give him a makeover.
The house was cleaned up with a little touch up for the festive look. It's the celebration of harvest tomorrow and I'm off to the sundry shop for some supplies and sugar cane!
