Leap Day

The last time February 29th came about, this blog was not in place yet and I was a happy, playful, sleeping all the time 7 month old baby. Didn't have a clue about it.
Here's a bunch of flowers to all the babies born on leap day, Happy Birthday to you! Celebrate monthly like how I do it. Abundance of partying every month!

Kepong Elmo Club

Among my favourite cartoons on TV, Elmo's world sits comfortably in the Top 5. What I love about him the most is his adorable laugh.
Love the chubby little fellow so much, I've self appointed myself as the Chairperson of the Kepong Elmo Club. Identified by our fabric brooch.
Pinned proudly!

Photo in PetsMore Magazine

Back in November 2011, I joined the World Animal Day celebration at Desa Park City (for more info check out my posting) which made it in this quarter's PetsMore Magazine.
I frequent the Kepong branch for Sindhu's food supply and occasional treats purchase for her. If you look carefully at the bottom of the page inside the blue circle.
You'll find me. Here's the enlarged version.

Baby Bath

A friend of daddy's recently welcomed a bouncing baby boy. Elated on hearing this, I reminisce back in the days how I fit snuggly from the tip of daddy's fingers to his elbow.
While daddy sat and went into his flashback mode, I decide to emulate how I got my baby bath daily. The traditional way of placing the baby on your legs during bath time wasn't as easy as daddy made it sound.
Of course this little fella was steady enough to stand which I doubt I would have done at that size. Had to keep my distance from Sindhu as the Pink doll resembles her chew toy.

Happy Valentines

In conjunction with Valentine's Day tomorrow, we prepared a simple gift pack for our loved ones at home. It was basically rice krispies coated in chocolate.
A lovely gift pouch was used to house the 3 mini cookie cups. May not have turned out in the manner a chef would approve nevertheless I got a 'bear' hug for it!

Happy Thaipusam

Road closed, exorbitant parking fee for a road side spot and the massive crowd, Thaipusam to be rejoiced! And it would be nice if people read signs ...

Crowd aside, heaps of broken coconuts made a little mole hill at the main gate. The presence of rubbish never stops every on year. Let my generation be the change.

I enjoyed the bird's eye view minus the cramping crowd. Poor daddy had to carry me all throughout for at my height, I'm sure to disappear in this gathering.
Lord Muruga sat majestically on his peacock (kinda like how I located myself on daddy's shoulders) blessing all his devotees. Made an 'archanai' for myself.
He arrived yesterday afternoon around 2pm from the Mariamman Temple in down town KL in his shinning silver chariot. Large crowd gathered to snap photos of it.
The carnival feel stretched all along the highway right up to the Gates leading to the Caves. Everyone capitalized on this once a year event for good business.
Fun fair, Balloons, toys ... missing a clown or 2.
I failed to qualify on the minimum height requirement for the big ones so had to happily settle for the small 'human push' powered carousel yet again.

We enjoyed all the sweets sold by our Singh Brothers and had a feast buying all kinds of vegetarian food on top of all the free food/drinks kind hearted folks were giving out.
Great celebration, tiring though. Catching all the rest I can for it's back to school tomorrow.
Happy Thaipusam Everyone!

Tossing the Yee Sang!

I had my own Prosperity Toss at home just in time to wrap up the 15 days leading to Chap Goh Mei. It was a take away set with all the 'mise en place' in cute small containers.
It usually consists of strips of Salmon (haven't seen it served with other raw fish) but cause most of us we're fasting for Thaipusam, we settled for the vegetarian pack.
Everything goes in together with varieties of sauces and condiments which was carefully made to live up to the non vegetarian standard. The best part was ... tossing it!
The higher you toss it, the more good fortune it brings in so the dining table ended up in quite a mess. Sorry daddy for the added chores. Look up Yee Sang on Google Malaysia and you'll find the dish literally being tossed for ownership by Malaysia and Singapore.

MCA says 'Majulah Kepong' ...

This morning the Kepong MCA held a get together for all NGOs, Rukun Tetangga's in and around Kepong at the former cinema turned restaurant, HLT in Jinjang.
MCA is dead serious about winning the Kepong Constituency that has been a DAP stronghold for years. Modus Operandi was the launch of the 'Majulah Kepong' manifesto.

Without the regular fanfare associated with Chinese New Year celebrations, the event was surprisingly low key. I was looking forward to fireworks and the magnificent lion dance.
Key invitees were each given a balloon to be released marking the kick-off. My cute baby looks earned me a yellow beauty that fast raced up to the sky.
One of the dishes served among the sumptuous fare was the deliciously looking braised pork. I've never had pork before but decided to give it a go today.
The dish earned a thumbs-up! for it was succulent & well seasoned. Next up ... Bak Kut Teh!
