Beaconhouse - 10th Anniversary

This month, my school celebrated it's 10th Anniversary in Malaysia. They have been quite the pioneer in private education and remains to be the preferred choice even with emergence of many new players today.
A grand celebration was held and I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to perform a dance number in front of dignitaries & VIPs who graced the event.

Morning Dim Sum Breakfast

Waking up late has become a privilege since I started junior school. Weekends are maximized in catching up on lost sleep and missing the all important meal of the day.
Brunch becomes the norm and Menjalara is the place for it. Dim Sum was savoured today and I enjoyed the top right choice very much. I don't know what's it called but it had a combination of 3 different meats!
The Eden Dim Sum City consists of 2 shop lots with large seating space and the waiters are always on constant move offering wide variety of Dim Sums.
We popped into Tesco right after to grab my long delayed birthday present. I striked a deal with daddy to keep my spending within budget and settled for a Barbie.
She'll blend in well with my other collections.

His Name is ... Sailesh!

The baby naming ceremony takes alot into account, right from the date and time when it's carried out till selecting the letter of which the baby's name is decided. Grandpa is well versed in this and he can easily determine based on the birth time, positions of the stars and planets.
During the ceremony, rituals are performed by the priest and the major highlight is when the baby's name is written on rice. Daddy did the honors!
After which the baby's name is called out slowly into the baby's ears thrice. Family members, granparents brought gold ornaments as a gift for him. I had my share of it when I went through this. A copper, silver and brass anklet was also placed around his ankle along with an amulet that contains blessed holy ash is also tied around his waist.
2 days later, an elaborate lunch feast was arranged for extended family and friends.

Another Year Older .... 7 on 13/7

This year my birthday was extra special with the arrival of the little one! The prayer in my favourite temple took place as it does every year.
Upon returning, I was blessed at home as the rest of the family couldn't join me at the temple since we're still within a month of the baby's arrival.
The party went on in the evening with the coolest cake - Frozen themed Fondant cake in strawberry buttered flavour! The single tier cake looked simple but the additional 3D Frozen characters (Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Hans, Kristoff, and Sven) figurines turned it grand.
Obviously I had to pair that with matching Frozen themed attire!
Next day, which also happened to be the day the World Cup 2014 finals were played with Germany clinching the trophy, I went with a soccer themed cake for the celebrations at school.
My friends were all thrilled especially the boys who just couldn't get their eyes off the cake and wanted to grab the soccer player figurines.
Everyone thanked me for the lovely gift pack I gave each of them and immediately after having the cake, they ransacked the bag for the goodies I gave them.

The night before my birthday!

The evening before my birthday, we decided to head out for a nice dinner as a pre celebration to the big day.
It was a lovely place but since they are relatively new, the menu had some excellent choice going on great bargain as a means to entice customers.
The cosy place was already bustling with patrons who were all waiting for their meals. We had to wait for a table despite getting there as early as 7pm.
The starter was mushroom soup with garlic bread.
Main Course #1: Moroccan chicken with mashed potatoes and vegetables served in spicy tomato sauce
Main Course #2: Grilled salmon with boiled baby potatoes and vegetables served in lemon and butter sauce
Nicely ending with Crêpe Suzette and iced lemon tea. The servings could have been a little bigger but the meal overall was very appetizing.

1 to 7!

In a blink of an eye, we're half way done with 2014 and a day before I turn 7! After a hearty home made western breakfast, we embarked on some last minute shopping.
Daddy heard about a warehouse sale going on deep in Taman Ehsan which is about 10 minutes from Kepong. They offered a wide variety of garments at great bargains organized by Bintang Fashion.
Next stop was at the Cocoland warehouse sale where we needed to get loads of chocolates to be given to my classmates in conjunction of my birthday.
On the way back, we found yet another warehouse sale. This one had massive selection of branded children's clothings organized Hytex. Shopped for my brother.
As soon as I got back, I sorted out the goodies that needs to be packed for my friends and got them all ready with 22 lovely canvas bags for each of my friends.
Packing was a breeze and I had to make sure everything was nicely arranged so that the heavy ones won't squish the cakes and chocolates.
They are all sealed in air tight wrapping so it certainly will stay fresh till Monday when I get them to school. Daddy will bring the cake along just before school ends so that I can celebrate with my friends.

School Holiday Activities

The past semester school holidays were pretty exciting despite it being pretty short. I did a lot of interesting things to keep me busy and occupied.
There was a number of experimentation going on mainly on little insects and plants. It was cool to see the way they are made up and discover new details on them.
I had school homework too and it required daily updates. We were all told to document all the activities into a dairy for the whole duration of the holiday.
The other major one was the art project where we needed to come up with a scene using different types of materials. Here's mine depicting a scene from the farm. Check out the hair on the horse, pretty awesome as it was designed with coconut husk.
The other major happening was my 3 days 2 night trip up north to Penang island. It was my first visit there. More on it in another post.

New Eats - Satay

Minus the peanut sauce, it's good the way it is.
