Deepavali - 6 Days to Go!

The last weekend before Deepavali is very crucial to KL folks. Many would be too occupied with work to spare any time on weekdays so for great bargains and a good day out with family, these 2 days will be well utilized.
We decided to drop by Brickfields ... not to get anything in particular but to see the changes the place went through. The new revamped 'Little India' was certainly a sigh to behold.
The Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh along with our PM declared the place open last Wednesday with much fanfare. We tried our luck instead returned home with a ticket for illegal parking. Now these daredevils parked along the yellow line would probably be going home with one too.
It's just as illegal for drivers to park along yellow line as it is to buy fireworks. I'm guilty as charged but the only thing that amiss the celebration will certainly be the crackers. I swear it was only the sparklers and nothing more.
The Deepavali Carnival was held not too far from the Little India. The place was packed to the brim.
Part of the RM35 million spent was on this magnificent fountain at the junction of Travers Road and Brickfields. I wasn't allowed for a close up so this is the best shot I could get.

Deepavali - 7 Days to Go!

This year will be the fourth Deepavali for me and as daddy puts it, 'Satyavin Athiradi Deepavali' (Satya's Rocking Deepavali) gets into gear ... The countdown begins!
I've been very vocal with my opinions and that's getting costly like these lovely new curtains for the living area. We were suppose to only look around but came back with 3 large bags thanks to comments I make.
To the young generation, greeting cards are something unheard of. I for one am an advocate to eCards. Even then, it won't look as good if you had those printed and hung up.
The pain of buying, writing, posting is not really my thing but for the fun of it, I had to get this piece.

Toddling @ Jalan Tengku Kelana

Exactly 2 weeks from today, Deepavali will be celebrated by Hindus from all walks of life. I know we decided not to get any major shopping done, but no harm in doing a little window shopping.
People of indian origin are found in very large numbers in Klang hence to meet their needs, Tengku Kelana Street offers everything under one roof.
The selections ranges from items on bargain (old stock / fashion)
To exclusive pieces that costs a figure I can't manage counting with my fingers.
Of course there's bound to be something entertaining for me and this time around it was the palmist. My annual '7 days to Deepavali' countdown starts next week. Stay tuned!

Enthiran The Robot!

Super Star Rajinikanth's last release was 'Sivaji the Boss' back in 2007, a month away from me seeing the world. I felt the intensity in the cinema, thanks to great surround sound.
That movie went on to break records and made history. The only way they could outdo the grandeur was to bring back the same team, throw in lots of money and let the magic work.
It certainly did and out came Enthiran the Robot. The movie was just spell binding. For someone who can't sit still for more than 2 hours, I sat through the entire movie and enjoyed every minute of it.
Stunning special effects, a former Miss Universe and the Super Star himself all crafted into perfection by Master director Shankar said to be the most expensive Indian movie ever made. It broke more records again and having a movie that can top this would probably take a while.
2 other big names were linked to star in this movie prior to Rajinikanth lapping it up. It may have been fate that he was to be the one carrying this piece and for someone his age, he certainly mesmerized the world playing dual roles. Enthiran was just splendid ... Dot.

Great Combination

This might be an age old discovery for many but it's a new experience for me. Crispy french fries dipped in hot mash potato. Bliss!
