Chinese New Year 2010

It's coming to the 15th day of the Lunar New Year nevertheless the festive cheer goes on. Gong Xi Fa Cai to all. It is grand affair in Malaysia mainly because the Chinese community are the 2nd largest population here.

True to the '1 Malaysia' concept brought forward by our current prime minister, open houses picked up momentum more then ever.

The political party MCA held theirs on the 1st day of Chinese New Year and it was a rousing success as turnout was massive. Many turned up to experience Chinese delicacies and get a chance to greet cabinet ministers who were there to join in the celebration.

The lion dance is a major attraction and sought after for their presence brings luck into the premises of where they perform. Their routine is not an easy feat especially those who jump on pillars.

Another must experience is the Yee Sang also known as Lo Hei. It's an appetizer before the family has their meal on the eve of the celebration. The tossing is to mark prosperity for the year and the higher it goes the larger the growth in fortune.

My tossing didn't go too well as you can see above.

My fear of the Lion Dance is officially over this year when I had a chance to get up close to one. At one stage i got so brave I wanted to catch them by their horns.
